I'm in the military as well (currently in England) and have been buying in Missouri from other states/countries for the past 10 years or so.

I've personally shifted my strategy from looking for a buy and hold in New England to flipping in New England in order to raise more capital.

I currently live in New Hampshire, and if anyone is familiar with the New England area, they know that the market is still very competitive. 

At the rate in which good farmable land is being lost to development in New England there is a demand by farmers for this type of land.

I've known over 100 investors across the country personally for the past 15 years....fewer than 10 of them invest out of state, and several of those are just across the border in places like New England / Kansas City / St.
