That's kind of awkward.

And if we are wrong, we pocket a nice annuity.I see a bigger risk in selling and needing to redeploy capital/pay capital gains taxes, and levering back up, or doing an awkward 1031 exchange. 

You mention the awkward layout which may put off some renters.  

I attribute it to the 'feeling out' phase similar to that awkward Blu-ray vs HD-DVD time. 

@Vinod Dasani Hi Vinod, yes i spoke to the builder. it was a long, awkward conversation that basically said "we can, technically, get you for the whole 10,000 so you shouldn't back out, Caroline" but it was also fluffed with a lot of sugar coating as to why this is such an amazing investment.

This approach has worked well with me and removes the awkwardness from the situation. 

Sometimes the first one can be the most awkward but you have to show up to be seen.

After listening awkwardly to them about how they helped their cousin by a primary residence, etc....I would politely tell them that if they know a Realtor that owns rental properties they should refer them to me so that they can get a referral fee.

On the other hand, you don't want awkward bookings that create large gaps shorter than 30 days that you can get booked and lose income on. 

At times I may see people be brutally honest and others may come off maybe a tad bit awkward; but in all my years here my observation is most want to help.
