Curious to know if anyone has ever used the Jefferson county tax collector site & the Alabama department of revenue site to check for delinquent properties and OLD information pops up (Jefferson county site) or no information is found  (Alabama revenue site), then on another day.....the information is different/there.

I work in Java support development (software) in the Birmingham area.My wife and I are just getting into real estate investing and we are seeking our first investment property, a multi-family rental property in Jefferson, Walker, or Blount county Alabama.I'm interesting in finding mentors, private lenders, and general real estate investing contacts in the area, because I know precisely nothing on the subject.

Rentals are in high demand in the area, especially ones that have been updated as most of the housing stock in Metairie is dated.Metairie is located in Jefferson Parish (Louisiana has parishes rather than counties).

@Arnold Finkelstein, there is a trial-level decision in Jefferson County that says the Rioprop time limit runs even while a property is one the state inventory. 

I would start getting to know Jefferson Park, Old Irving Park or Avondale.

Depending on what your goals are (and where you stand financially now), I would also suggest Point Breeze, Passyunk, graduate hospital, any neighborhoods around the various colleges (Drexel, Temple, Penn, Jefferson, etc) and Manayunk (not sure how far your radius is).

Look up Jefferson Lilly on ITunes and listen to everything you find.  

I really think that the city has its fair share of challenges, but is also going to be on an upswing for the next few years, especially in areas of the city that previously haven't gotten a lot of hype (Jefferson Chalmers, East English Village, etc).
