I know a lot of South Asians (Indians/Pakistanis/Bengalis) invest in their own country but that is because they either go back frequently and/or want to maintain ties to their home country. 

As Ian said get them fixed and get an inspector to look and remove the voilation.

I’m currently on section 8 I mailed my 30 day notice but my landlord said he never received it so I asked if I could take it to the office since he’s a lawyer he said he was out of town so I went anyway well there he was leaving I tried to give it to him he refused to take it He said I could drop it off inside I left it inside I asked for receipt the female worker she said yes then he called and she said no So I told her it’s ok I’ll take picture of the business cards next to the letter and she said if I took any pictures or took my phone out she would call the police on me and started yelling And asked me to leave He said I have to follow what’s in the lease I said His name the lease says I have to give u30 day notice i am month to month I mailed u one and dropped one off one today today since he keeps refusing them today it’s dated Jan 7 -feb 7 and today is jan 9 now is 29 days now cause he’s delaying and says he won’t have time to review the lease till the following day to see if he can accept itI told him I complied with California law I dropped it in person handwritten mailed him a 30 day notice my daycare witnessed as refused to take the letter from me housing already accepted my notice and is inspecting new unit on the 13 and starting payment I’m the following 8 what happens with this landlord I can mail a certified letter this time it’s my first time having this issue but housing already has everything set can he make a big thing if it was dated the 1-7-2020-2-7 -2020and he didn’t receive it till 1-9-2020 and technically he didn’t get it in his hand the girl left it on his desk so they can still say they never got it don’t know why he’s doing this

The female child claims it is half hers since he had no will and she's been living in the homestead. 

For couples, females are the primary housing decision, so getting a female's sense can be priceless. 

I put the guest room on Airbnb / Facebook marketplace over the summer and had 3 female interns at 1 month each in my place at $800/mo.

In my earlier years selling real estate I also sold properties to a few Asian clients in SF who did the same thing handed over a bag of cash to pay for their land which we promptly transported to the title company..

My second take, which came from my much smarter wife: wives pick houses, so cater to a female clientele.As JD and Brock note, there is no one size fits all.  

My parents, however have been landlords for 20+ years (asian) and keep telling me that I shouldn't because it could get expensive.What should I do?

I may be wrong on this, but I can just see contractors taking one look at me and thinking they can milk me for all I have based on my physical appearance and being female, which is all the more reason I think I really need either an experienced flipper or GC as a partner until I learn more.I'm perfectly fine with splitting things 50-50 to start because all of what I've mentioned so far seems worth it, to me at least.
