The building was already an apartment building in very bad shape and mis managed.

Following this thread, The prices of established cabins are very high in this market and I am exploring the build route.Anyone have experience here in buying land and getting a cabin built? 

It is proven high end and has some of the best views - it's truly a rare opportunity as developable land disappears quicklyIt's 8 prime lots (around $1m a piece) and half are multi family (2 duplex and 2 triplex). 

I did a investment lending to a company for land development project.

Knowing my end goal is to move to another state (Sperryville or Staunton, VA) and 3-4ish hours away to start a small hobby farm, does it make sense to pay off these properties rapidly in the next 5-6 years so that I have a total clean slate from a lending perspective in order to finance the land, house, and buildings, or does it not matter?

No formula can be accurate across the board because even “cookie cutter” properties next store to each other differ as to view, location to the street, topography of the land, lot size, physical condition of the property, past remodeling, quality of the mechanical systems, sunlight, utility bills, past use, etc.
