I recommend seeing if the county / city has any of the "as built" or original plans in archive.

There are thousands of apps, so likely there is one that you can use to track your workouts.I also like that I can add audio files from iTunes very easily, so now I don't have to carry my iPod to listen to real estate pod casts in my car.

Check out the BP Podcasts which you can find on iTunes - I find them to be quite inspirational and filled with great ideas on how to get started in REI.
