I didn't realize that about syndications.

But after working with him, I realized he was very systematic and mostly cared about closing deals without much care for the client's long term needs.Here’s an example: I had a $10K escrow with the seller—$5K due upfront and $5K after the inspection.

It's really tough to start investing when you are 60 and realize in 30 years you'll be 90 (if you are lucky). 

Maybe I was just unlucky, or maybe I was a bit too naive in expecting a truly hands-off investment without realizing how much that convenience would cost.

Realize there will be a cost but also realize the value in a highly appreciated property in CA and the consequences of selling.  

My chief complaint is the lack of communication and an actual project management plan... thats good news I know some lenders get pretty concerned when construction is so slow.. but sounds like a great deal and I know RTR will be there every step for you guys.. did not realize they were the conduit for this transaction.

Second, you need to realize you are looking with 20/20 hindsight.
