@Parmer Cherry, Yes you can donate items to qualified charity and possibly get a deduction. 

My company could donate the rental if people are still interested.

also you could donate the homes to a local charity who then make sure the tenants still meet requirements and then you fill it in and get a tax write off.

You definitely don't want to donate your sweat equity to the owner or hard money lenders, so you may need to find a partner to carry the financing.
