Hmmm...As a licensed clinical social worker who specializes in helping individuals change and having years working specifically with people in poverty, I have found the books from Ruby Payne Understanding Poverty and Bridges our of Poverty to be super helpful in understanding the mindset of people in poverty and what helps them leave poverty.

I did some more looking around and I did find a legal aid clinic nearby that she might qualify for, so I'm going to have her call them.
