As a rental owner...I don't care if the siding is vinyl, wood, bamboo, plastic, etc.

It played out just like Goodfellas when Joe Pesci walks in the room and sees the plastic on the floor, realizing what's about to happen.

There was a walking path through the rooms with plastic milk jugs crushed from walking on them.

I use the plastic corrugated ones from Menard's (I think you have Menard's in Ohio) and they hold up well.

Now, these are also idiots, so I am not saying they do a good job, but they will attempt to put up plastic lining or put the lab in a detached garage or shed or similar, depending on property.

Something new - the City of Philadelphia now will not pick up mattresses that are being disposed of in the trash unless the mattress has been placed into huge plastic bags designed for mattress disposal - due to bed bugs ...

Plastic is the only way to go.

If you didn't use containment in the area where the work was being done (plastic sheets to isolate and contain dust/debris) then you may in fact have an issue that does need to be addressed.* Testing is the only way you're going to know for sure that the work was done sufficiently.* Testing is also the only way a buyer is going to be satisfied that they are getting a home without mold issues.Texas (where I live) regulates air sampling and remediation companies.

I generally replace the galvanized waste lines with plastic.  

It ain't rocket surgery but could cost a lot if the handyman had a bad day.
