From here, assuming you get pre approval for a new construction loan, moving into a cheap rental would be one option- I would be cautious of where if you have school age children; in some districts the mailing address must match the home address for the children to attend the same schools as now, and I doubt you would want your tenant receiving anything from the school as it pertained to your children in terms of privacy if you tired to get around this by listing current address as home and mailing address.

Just a few months ago, I think the mother left the fireplace burning, a small cinder blew onto the floor and her two children died.

low quality schools, but since it's a 1 bed / 1ba I don't imagine my tenants will have children. 

This happened because of entire families with single children cooperating together across generations to keep buying "better"/more expensive properties, churning through them and dropping more money in with each flip up.

In the same way, if another child brings a toy and doesn't share it but it flaunting it at other children, I talk about how that is actually his toy so he can do what he wants with it, but that his behavior is ugly and he is trying to make other children feel ugly, too--he is trying to make then envious, and why it isn't his owning of the toy that's the problem but his nasty behavior and how we can avoid being dragged down with him, etc.I make sure my kids both succeed and fail.
