Also used to be a deep sea diver working in the oilfield doing underwater construction-- so I have a lot of construction and PM background.We also had a $3MM real estate investing/development business wiped out overnight when hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans a decade ago-- had to rebuild from scratch in an entirely new city. 

I put them in the best condition I can so it cuts on repairs.My partner did have an 8-unit apartment building built in the 1800s, and an outbuilding dating back to the late 1700s, but it was in the French quarter of New Orleans.

By the way: For those of us in film industry towns like Albuquerque, New Orleans, and Atlanta, there is big demand for temporary lodging for film industry crews.

When I first 'attempted' wholesaling, I was in such a small market in Louisiana that I thought the smart thing to do was look for properties in the largest market near me which was New Orleans (and 5 hours away).  

There used to be a lot of in-person meetings/conferences to meet with local investors, etc. in New Orleans a few years ago - anything similar here?

Of course, it is also needed in hurricane prone areas as the people of New Orleans found out.

I moved to New Orleans and didn't even have a job lined up yet, lol. 

We repaired the damage and put it back in commerce as a newly renovated 160 year-old structure along one of the great boulevards in New Orleans.

There certainly is enough room for it and laundry in the kitchen is extremely common in older, smaller homes here in New Orleans.
