Basically, from the inside looking out, the left hand side with knob and deadbolt was higher than the hinged side which kept the door latch from inserting into the strike plate hole (it was too low - or rather the jamb was too high).Now, I picked up a really slick trick with this problem.

So its possible to insert a steel beam there to span front to back.

@Ned Carey no it was a major lender - not sure why the attorney who drafted the deed of trust inserted that language to be honest.

I inserted "potentially" because procuring cause being established simply by showing a property is something of a grey area, which I will address later.
