I use one of the wireless (uses cell phone technology and not phone lines) alarms I carry from house to house.

There will be food, music, goodie bags for the runners, 2-aid stations along the route along with an aid station at the start/finish line of the loop.The run itself benefits Kids Kickin' Cancer Soccer Club, which is a non-profit supporting kids battling childhood cancers.  

Maybe they don't have a computer or cell phone, or they don't trust electronic payments.

Ask for their cell number and text them your contact info and what you are interested in doing. 

Batteries and battery acids are also common, dry cells and lead acid for larger models.
