Forget the surround, what is a dehumidifier doing operating on top of the toilet:) Then they stuffed some tiny cabinet and tiled on top of it and put it directly in front of the already small space in front of the toilet?

I am opening an office in Staten Island, NY in which I will be offering cash purchase for homes as well as remodeling.

What level of remodeling did you complete and do you care if it gets destroyed by tenants?

Before it was rented I added kitchen cabinets and a counter where there was none, remodeled the bathroom (not a complete makeover, but substantial), added a dishwasher and installed flooring.  

After 30 years I'm over tenants and toilets. 

You could have found a nice one to remodel and continue the profitable venture.
