Right now, I’m living rent-free with family, and I could continue to do so for the next two years before moving.Here’s my dilemma: would it make more sense for me to continue to save money and start my real estate investing journey in my new state?

My sister and I are not opposed to some sort of buy in as well, as it would likely help my father clear up some debts, and would just be nice to help him realize some sort of lump sum gain, in addition to what would likely be a share of monthly rental income.We are looking at setting up a trust to accomplish all of this, but are just at the beginning of this journey.

As I mentioned previously to Hattie, I want to see what is realistic given my circumstances and what things to focus on at this point in my journey.  

I began my real estate journey in December, and together with my partners, we now own 10 units and have grown our portfolio to $5.5M.

It’s been an incredible journey of self-managing the property—living in one of the units for three years and gradually renovating three out of four as tenants turned over.
