My understanding of the law in Ohio is this: The use of deadly force is permitted in cases where you feel you are in immenent danger of severe bodily harm or death and you have no available recourse to flee the situation.

You are paying for the insurance but I'll be you never read the policy you are paying for.There is probably plenty in there about neglect of the property, etc.Defaulting and abandoning a property is a form of neglect and harms the value of the property because abandoned property sells for less.So your actions (not market forces) have increased the loss to the PMI company.

So no harm in contacting the bank, although you will need to identify the servicing agent for the property since it is Freddie Mac owned.You won't get this any cheaper dealing direct with the bank IMO, since the bank already has assigned it to an agent (very likely the bank isn't going to sell it directly to anybody once they engage an agent).As with all REO properties, ALL CASH offers with no financing contingency is the best advantage you can give yourself here.
