In all 3 cases it was the opinion of the professional that infestation was related to recent travel and the tenants have been in the unit for 6 months. 

The state you live in may not be a good place for this.You can always travel to states that do have good laws surrounding investor purchased tax liens.To me, anything over a 12 month redemption period is not good

Buy a couple rentals, quit your job and travel the world is not realistic (anymore).As a city we have a lot of problems with OOS investors who do not take care of their properties. 

Would you pay $3m for a property today, with horrible numbers, if "Johnny-Time-Traveler" stopped by and showed you inflation would run wild and dollar basically halve in next years, effecting a "inflation 2x" to asset prices? 

We bought our home in 2016 as a new construction in the medical district and it has appreciated by 20%.

I live in the Raleigh area but own a medium-term rental for traveling nurses in New Hampshire.

I live in MN and own a rental in CO and Travelers insured me through a CO agent.

The MTR and STR would be more for travel nurses, corporate professionals instead of people vacationing.

My desire for STR is I travel a lot for work and feel I have learned what goes into creating experiences for people which the STR market is geared towards.
