Where you willing to compromise on the cash flow or did you have certain criteria?

That could be a fair compromise between the current unlimited availability of tax deferment (including the possibility to complete avoidance via step up basis upon death)*, and eliminating it entirely (as the Trump tax cuts did to exchanges of al non-real estate property).  

I’m willing to compromise the distance from work since I only report a weekend a month to my unit.

For example, if I wanted to refi into a conventional loan after taking the Heloc, would my equity be compromised I have to pay PMI?

However, I wouldn't compromise that contingency if I need financing.

It’s the “compromise” between owner’s rights and protecting your neighbors from living next to a hotel which zoning wouldn’t allow to be built.

One thing I will say is establish your criteria, don't compromise and do not give up.

In my mind i didnt like it at first since i just spent money on the landscaping but in the end we compromised.

Perhaps if you're comfortable with him being there, compromise with a month-to-month lease for him.
