Shorter term, it will bring in workers to construct and create this new development - Longer term, it will bring in the likes of famous celebrities from around the country (if not world) to live and stay here short to long term.

DFW area has some of the best population and job growth in the country.

Many of our clients that are looking at STR are also looking at MTR as Charlotte is currently top 20 in the country for traveling medical professional demand (furnishedfinders), and we are currently one of the largest cities without a medical educational institution. 

Also want to know if the father needs to be a US citizen or permanent resident, as my dad is from a different country but I'm a permanent resident in PA.

The other comments on this thread may be correct for their part of the country, but in Chicago, you need to abide by the RLTO which states  "(h) "Rental agreement" means all written or oral agreements embodying the terms and conditions concerning the use and occupancy of a dwelling unit by a tenant." 

I own real estate outside of CA, both in the country and internationally but have chosen to rent in Hermosa Beach due to the high cost to buy a home in coastal southern California.The apartment complex I live in was bought April 1st by an private equity company who gave all the residents a 60 day notice to vacate so they could due a total rehab.   

Of course we can't predict the future but based on everything happening it seems we will have at least as good appreciation as the rest of the country and possibly more than average.
