I had a tree (the neighbors tree) that fell on the roof of my rental and damaged it severely so now I have to change the whole roof.So during the hurricane I had an insurance called Citizens, but right after the hurricane they switched me to a different insurance (Slide)...Will you please help me with my questions:1) My coverage was for a policy that is not a rental but  partially owner occupied (its a duplex), because I lived there but then moved out and did not switch the coverage to a rental.

For example, (for a normal buyer) on a half duplex your total monthly payment to own a 300k place would be 2484 whereas rent on that same unit is going to be 2100 to 2200. 

I am checking out few condos for a rental investment.

@Gabriel Dent Depending on your work and savings, it could be worth doing an application with a lender to see what you could get preapproved up to so you know what range you can offer within and then compare those duplexes, triplexes, and fourplexes to where you could rent for the time being instead. 

The goal would be to find a duplex in your area, live in one side and rent out the other.

If so, what is the process like a condo association from multi tax lots to a single tax lot.

I recently bought a duplex and I am in the process of finding a tenant for one of the units.
