I know that in some states you are required to hold their possessions for a certain amount of time and after that point you can sell or dispose of them as you please.

In a number of meetings the CFPB has made it clear the exemption (in their mind) exists only for the following reasons:An individual who owner occupied a home wants to sell and finance the home they lived in.An individual inherits residential property and wants to dispose of it by selling and financing the home(s) involved.They have very specifically stated that the exemption does not exist for an individual to engage in a business, however limited, of buying and selling and financing homes.What they have not been clear about is what their view is on the compliance issues related to financing the home.
