Start low if possible, offering yourself to the companies, and listen a lot of podcast from people that did this.- Partner is always better, but to put your name out there you have to do it yourself.

Listen to what they suggest, and make sure to keep an open dialogue with them to make sure you are both on that same page. 

What will separate you from the others is: active listening; problem solving skills; consistent follow-up; ability to add value to the prospective seller.4.
