My mountain home needed to be completely refurnished plus we added a hot tub (a must for cabin rental) which came with reinforcing the deck, so to get it Airbnb ready it was about $10,000.

If there is a deck or patio that looks to be sagging or poorly constructed, it could have been built without a permit (not inspected and not done properly) call the building department as ask of there is anything you may need to know about that specific property. there could be outstanding fines.

The basement has 4 units in it, has all concrete floors and holds what will be our office, a gym, a laundry room (we will provide washers and dryers that are not coin opp...so the best washer and dryer suggestions) and a party room for tenants to book if they want to use it.All utilities will be RUBS back to the tenants to reduce operating costs.We are also adding a rooftop deck with a plan to have green roof space w possible rentable space for organic farming for tenants.
