My real estate buddy told me about BiggerPockets and I have been trying to soak in as much from the podcasts as possible.

I would suggest house hacking first while soaking up as much information as possible.

Soak in as much information as you possibly can, and just continue to talk and ask questions.Find your local REIA and go to them.

In the meantime, go under "education" tab and soak in as much info as you can. 

Soaking all the knowledge we can and finding who we can to help with this decision.

I have my wife's uncle and a family friend who've indicated they'd be willing to provide input and help me get started, so I've been reaching out to them for the preliminary questions I have and I've also been reading and soaking up all I can on here. 

I am on bigger pockets everyday reading and just soaking in the information but I still don't know where to actually begin being that I have no hands on experience.

I've been listening to Real Estate podcasts for a few months, signed up on BP a couple weeks ago (and have been stalking the forums, soaking it all in), and just today, I found 2 different Real Estate Investment groups here in the Springs that I'll be attending. 

Wanting to soak up knowledge that the experts on this may have acquired over the years.
