In the PHX/Scottsdale market, the ship has been sailing away for a while.

Action - don't be an *** about unimportant things.Hobby: Take ASA 101/102/104 classes as an intro to sailing and allow me to bare charter a sailboat.

$5k a month then I buy another sail cat and spend half the year sailing the Caribbean.

(In their nomenclature, "rent stabilization")  Every other 'tenants rights'  ordinance the last few years has sailed through city council either as proposed or getting more extreme on the way.  

I almost rented one for a 2 week cruise they will let you do that if your interested in buying.. just to check it out.. and I think you can get one for maybe as low as 1 million.. not sure if they finance or has to be cash.. pretty tough having your collateral sail around the world constantly but maybe.. there is  a loan product for everything.  

My husband and I are both former software developers; we retired and went sailing south but after several unexpected health issues, we found that we were blowing through our retirement funds a little too quickly comfort.

I think wealth has more to do with an abundance of time than an abundance of money.If you read about the ultra-saver groups where they are retired at age 27 living in a tent or sailing a boat, they consider themselves wealthy because they have the abundance of time on their side.  

Maybe some of them have a passion for real estate, but it sounds like many are just running away from their jobs.When it comes to burnout, it's funny to see 20-something's who are already tired of working and just want to retire and sail around the world.

Do they miss the weather/beach/sailing in SB -yes, but, they have a life they could never have if they had stayed.
