You want to pay 300k to 350k but you want that property to be valued at 360k to 420k (i.e. don't pay more than 80% of what its worth). 

Property being worth around $35,000.

Yes starting out there is a low dollar per hour but at some point it needs to be worth the while - as you could be spending that time doing something more profitable.Not saying to give up by any stretch just saying make sure to re evaluate consistently to put the best strategy together

However, there is a mortgage on it with about 80k left, is it even worth trying to still go for this house or is that up to my buyers to see if they would want it still?

I think it's not worth paying a huge premium for that given that, indeed, people don't go to Tulum to stay in a condo and admire the aesthetics of it.
