They did homework without being asked, they set their alarm clocks, they got dressed and ready, I didn't get calls from their teachers about bad behaviors; all of that happens due to the foundations you set when they are younger. 

Filters and batteries on smoke alarms, I would just replace and not charge her, but the cleaning and damage add in the cost of materials. 

But the neighborhood was happy to see them in their cheap white suits and yellow belt detectors which never alarmed.
