Alternatively, I have spent the last decade doing technical work in cybersecurity, and can land a job between $140k-$190k (depending on where in the US). 

I'll be specifically looking to start in the Cincinnati, Ohio and lean towards targeting buy and hold single family and potentially multi family as well.Any advice is appreciated and I look forward to connecting.

It's definitely one of those issues that is very specific, and would need to be worked out with Planning.

Talk to your attorney, and if you dont have one, get one - as @Ken M. said, this is highly specific to the state and the circumstances.

My view is there is more protection on a wrap than a sub to and with the right disclosures and underwriting can be an alternative option. 

The reason I ask is if you're starting a "non-real estate" business, I'd recommend NOT using that business to buy any properties but use a real estate specific LLC to acquire your properties.
