I've also found the forums on citydata.com to be helpful and combined with street view can give a good indication of what a neighborhood is like but for me the acid test is would my mom feel safe walking around?

If you are on a well or spring you might want to use CPVC because acidic water will eventually wear out the crimped fittings.

Do not leave dirty clothes on the floor or food, wrappers, cigarette butts etc. as they all attract bugs.If you keep your place clean and have pest control and also put down the boric acid or have someone do it usually it will make the bugs move away to the other connected units.

Grout shouldn't be dissolving from a water leak unless you have some crazy acidic water out there.
