At present I have at least 50 applicants begging to rent a room because of the severe housing shortage.

If you are in a "hip" city that has a shortage of affordable housing (like Austin), I think it's a good idea if you can make them cool, sustainable, and green whilest being sturdy enough to transport out to wherever these mobile millennials are going to live.

I am in the Denver area and we have a severe shortage of housing due to 100K people moving into the state last year and another 100K expected this year.   

Well if the Republicans move to Canada if Hillary wins they are going to be disappointed with what they find since they are more socialist than we are.As far as Denver goes I am curious to see what happens here over the next few months, I think we have such a shortage of homes it's hard to think it will slow too much but maybe some slow down a bit and have some price corrections, hopefully materials and labor will correct a little bit too.

There is a shortage of homes, units are renting fast and the rent appreciation is still catching up with the property appreciation.  

This appears to be a case where there was a temporary housing/rental shortage with little barrier to entry...those don't last long.Many investors feel that it is prudent to map out your exit strategy(s) at acquisition. 

We have a big shortage of housing on Oahu (7,500 units per year) so I'm trying to fill the gap, LOL! 

When looking at a college town, you want to see if there is a dorm housing shortage.

Historically it has been better to rehab and then list, but with the shortage in housing, investors are buying with very low profit potential. 

@Oleg Shalumov - The more I read about cozy.co the better it looks and there seems to be no shortage of good feedback/recommendations on using them - we're heavily leaning towards using them at this point.
