There are many more like it in town, to include single family homes, that just aren't worth the headache even if it was pure profit.

And more so, that they should do without rent because of the current climate.When landlords decide to advertise their acts of kindness, give themselves a very public pat on the back, they feed this notion that rent is pure profit.

Start knocking on doors, explain your situation, and ask to compare your bills.If they've also seen the same increase, the situation is purely circumstantial.

And there's also an option of increasing the "pure rent" by $Z/month with that difference also going toward the purchase.

I can see expecting rural Texas numbers in Chicago leading to disappointment... seems like pure ignorance on their part at best.
