My strategy is basically to save enough cash flow in the next 3 years to get my foot in the door (between $18K - $30K).

The water marks are about a foot high and it is extremely damp in there.

@Mario Martini What a great name:) , need more info to be of any help, generally turning basement into living s.f. is profitable(with permits) and can return around 65% of your main floor per square foot price.

But, charging someone who is financially making a difference with their income(rental housing) to their community in the first place is totally wrong and people in Oakland should put their foot down now to stop this before it gets out of hand worse then now.

Wherever we begin, from the first narrative or the second, or maybe a collection of both, we begin our journey down this path with one foot outstretched to land in front of us.

Tried in vain to figure out how to add a bedroom on main level  - no go.  9 foot ceilings in basement but big money finishing didn't make sense for flipping.
