I've seen estimates that are off by 300% when all said and done (e.g. the original bid was $10k but the final cost was closer to $30k).

Much better off paying the eviction lawyer to do what they do than give up those 2 benefits.  

@Richard Bautista your gut is serving you well, saying something feels off here. 

In short, it was an unrealistic ask on the part of the company, and they knew it, but didn't care because they had already made their money off of the up-front fees they charged the debtor and ultimately didn't care whether the debtor got help or not.  

In 20 years, those same houses that you own today will be paid off and worth double what they are now. 

I had tenants that stopped paying rent for 2 years in NY during the pandemic and we couldn't kick them out, i've had tenants move out and leave someone squatting and NY made it impossible to evict them so I had to pay them off, i've had tenants destroy their apartments before they moved out (maggots in the fridge, flushing their kids toys down the toilet etc) so i've dealt with real difficulty.
