Guru's tell them they are at risk with a license since they then had to act as a fiduciary in some capacity.3. dont want to spend the 1 to 2k it takes to get a license.4. cant pass the test  LOL5. criminal back ground license denied.those are some basics.. but keep in mind commissions are negotiable.. but they are disclosed.. so i would not personally work for 6% on a 30k deal I would have a minimum fee of 5k. or so.. just like when i sold very tough to sell land in the boonies of N CA early in my carreer I routinely charged 15 to 20% and as high as 30%... once the local broker at 10% could not sell it.. they gave me a swing and since it was my total focus i sold them.. and got paid and sellers were happy to pay me.. its all about this secret profit.
