For context, I have a business degree in marketing (not good I know) and work for the biggest single family rental company in the US doing entry level customer service.

I feel like it's a way to keep people on the platform and appeasing hosts, instead of offering more supportive customer service. 

We would throw them in for free whenever a customer bought a solar system from us if they had an FPE panel or other outdated panel that wouldn't pass inspection (Zinsco's with their breakers melted to the busbar, Zinsco's rebranded as GTE-Sylvania (but not all GTE-Sylvania's), and some panels made by Challenger Electric, Westinghouse, Bryant that used a similar design as the Stab-lok/FPE for awhile but these are far less common and not all panels made by those brands are bad like FPE), split bus panels, fuse boxes, undersized 60-100A mains, etc.).

A bank can't extort a tacked-on higher interest rate if a borrower won't agree to new terms...terms that would now require unnecessary documentation and hassle.Here's excerpts from their letter to commercial customers I got last week, on company letterhead.

They have to "own" the product that they are selling so they could give idea and input to the customer.  

I continue to call the general customer service line, but the person that picked up the call was so useless.
