Bruce L. Myth No. 2: A penny saved is a penny earned
10 March 2014 | 25 replies
Certainly it's a recipe to achieve long-term financial comfort and to ensure that your nest egg continues to grow, but saving isn't going to help you generate shorter-term financial freedom or wealth. If I have a choice between giving up drinking Starbucks coffee everyday (okay, I don't really like Starbucks, but let's go with it as an example) and figuring out a way I can earn an extra $1000 per year to cover my Starbucks purchases, I'll go for the latter. The reason being, I'd never waste time striving for an extra $1000 per year -- instead, I'll strive for an extra $50,000 or $100,000 per year.

Brian Davis Wow, rehabbing has been a VERY humbling experience
9 December 2013 | 10 replies
But I have learned something from all the ups and downs…as long as I know what I'm striving towards and persistently move in that direction, I know I will get there (sure would be nice to be sooner than later…I guess we will all get somewhere given a long enough time frame but if I arrive at my goals in 100 years, I'll probably be too old to enjoy it) As for the plan, I will keep mailing and rehabbing houses and start wholesaling…(and I will keep watching flipping shows as if it were my job..haha, I'm hooked on watching those shows..how pathetic) And wanted to say thanks for everything that is a part of a community like this and thanks to josh for putting together an awesome podcast…(I sure wish Joe and Alex would release a new episode from the real estate mastery podcast..wtf guys!)

One thing I've done over the years is come up with savings/investment goals, strive to achieve those, and then simply track expenses (versus the traditional "budgeting") just to be sure my spending isn't totally out of whack.

They will always rent, they are just one of many client bases. My issue is with the landlords that willfully neglect their properties because of the client base they service, we should strive to maintain a safe and clean property for all our tenants (which I believe the majority does).

We have the same basic issues with plumbers (my plumber is my mentor in handyman real estate investing and won't take on new business anymore) and electricians (many will only work in low C-class hoods for a premium, if at all).I strive to form quality relationships with my own people.
