We calculate gross income as all dollars coming in except taxes.Our clients gross revenue is the room rate (top line) expenses minused out and then they receive their net income.Net profit (or loss) would be then when they subtract debt service, property tax, insurance, utilities, etc.

@Kevin Sobilo mostly nailed it, and yes if the lender and borrower knew the attorney was paying them and knew the deal wasn’t going to close for the sake of them all getting money, and EXTRA MONEY on top with the intent of defrauding me for an even larger amount then yes, I’m still thinking it’s mortgage fraud.

So for us in the bizz it worked great those were high earning years for me so I bought what 3 to 4 million of them and got 1.5 to 2 mil deduction off of my top line income.
