@Daniel DeMarco One of the IRS tests for the classification of Section 1245 (personal) property is called the "INHERENTLY PERMANENT TEST" in which the cost of items that are not inherent parts of a permanent, non-movable structure may qualify as personal property.

Also the "Government Housed" crowd in the USA is not the same as it is in Singapore.And I think because we are in the this business, we tend to "Classify" areas and buildings as being the most important factor, but I have been in Class C- units filled with love and family togetherness, and I've been in Class B units filled with arguments, discord and un-happiness.No matter where the USA houses it' poor and downtrodden, their actual "Home" is what they make out it.Of course they can't control crime, but they can control cleanliness and relationships within their own unit.And being poor in the USA (for some) often means driving an Escalade, a free Obama Phone, free medical, free food, free rent, free lawyers, free etc....Where I'm going with this is their happiness doesn't have to hinge on the housing classification, because once they are inside--what they make of it is up to them.

Rent by the room office space, storage by the room, I don't know if charitable groups pay tax on capital gains (depends on their classification I suspect) but that needs to be accounted for.

I think was able to change the STR classification to LTR on the VRBO website the next day, but don't remember exactly how I did it.Now my listing status on the platform is "Hidden" with no option to unhide it, arg!

In our simplistic classification scheme you have:Student rooming house:  As one might expect these are found in the proximity of colleges and universities (typically within walking distance) and may cater to a subset of the student population.
