Is there a typical minimum period where the penalty applies, like 3-5 years?

Hi Joseph, you would have to get the specifics on this particular DSCR pre-payment penalty, but they usually apply after there’s been a greater than 20% principle reduction. 

This applies even if your spouse didn’t own any interest in the activity and you and your spouse don’t file a joint return for the year.
