Talking about what happens if we go unemployed is a completely different thread - but i'm fortunately not a w-2 earner (self employed) so I feel less stress when I think of "losing my job", because i'm not going to fire myself (that isn't to say that something couldn't take my business away)

I know of an investment group from down under that is currently losing a fortune having to bail out of hundreds of terrible houses in awful areas.So I'm posting this just as a discussion point so that people may find it when they search. 

I'm fortunate to have good employment and a decent VA Disability check in the meantime.

I have been buying apartments and condos since 2008 and I have been fortunate to accrue 5 units (3 town houses and 2 homes) since then.

I am fortunate to say I am saving significantly between rental income on this property, my profession, and other investments.

Fortunately, in this case the previous management didn't tell their handyman it was sold, and he finished his work.That's all I got. 

Fortunately,   things are in good enough shape I can wait a few years for the current construction boom to slow down. 

I was fortunate enough to be asked to JV on a 64 unit Luxurious Apartment  property in Allentown Pa, but I'm seeking advice on how to reach investors in that market without being there.

So, $15k is a fortune to start with. 

On the one hand, we feel we were very fortunate to find this opportunity.
