I’ve seen some stuff online that suggests I might assume the previous owners depreciation schedule (which would be bad because they’ve owned it a long time).

She continuosly lied about things before we asked her (why she was moving, when scheduling a tour she told us she couldn't make a particular time due to a doctor's appointment [it was during her evictions hearing].

To me it still “feels” wrong, especially if you’re hiring and scheduling the repair yourself.  

It was a battle getting them to agree to the Purchase price so I highly doubt they will budge lower, especially with closing scheduled soon.
