In another house in that City I had to do an eviction where the kids used my walls as their drawing board.As for the space where the dishwasher was we tell them it is a place for their garbage and recycling bins.

I'm a computer/network engineer and the problem is, every 5 years, the technology completely recycles (with a few exceptions) so it's a CONSTANT learning curve.
