They did not detect several major things wrong with this property including but not limited to:1) a Leaking roof2) No public water or sewer3) The septic system is not working.

Lead paint and pipes can be detected using home test kits available at big box stores.  

You really could not detect the presence of CDW until you looked at the copper ground wiring or air conditioning evaporater coil, then it was clear, but really in now way impacted the livability of the unit.

But it's also can be like being born with a heart defect that no one detects until a super healthy 18-year-old athlete drops dead playing basketball. 

Newer systems are coming out integrating smoke detection as well.
