I guess the main reason they would want a site is for something that will consolidate all their properties under 1 brand name that they can post on face book and other sites or give to friends and family.

I have 3 performing STR's in Central Florida and spend less than 3 hours week managing them.Now if you were to be an underwater welder with zero access to your phone for several hours a day, the solution is simple, you hire a manager!

Perhaps PREIT would've been better served waiting for some tenant commitments before branding the mall the Fashion District.

If the answer is performance-related, or due to the agent simply not being a good fit, then that is understandable and they might let you go if you explain your legitimate reason honestly and ask to be released from the contract nicely.

If your goal is to get into short term rentals - analyze the deal to a point where it can still work as a longterm or midterm rental if short term doesn't perform as expected.
