For a cheap/low money/starting investor, I can't think of a better place in the USA right now to invest than West Michigan.

I read news about insurance companies pulling out of high-risk areas, but this week is the first time I saw it affect a deal of mine here in Colorado.My clients were under contract on an awesome STR property in the mountains west of Denver.

If the PMC was licensed then they likely have resources/recourses for you if this was negligence on the part of the PMC. its mandatory on the WEst coast to be licensed to be a PM..

Before this was a country and we had colonies, the "old" money was made in speculating on the land to the west.. 

If you purchased a second home in an a state like Florida on the East Coast, there is a reasonable explanation to buy on the West Coast or Jacksonville and then Cape Coral (Distance is key) but you need a reasonable explanation.
