That option would likely minimize the cost of the hotel, but it is kind of awkward to get back mid week.

The great awkwardness of the site built home is a function of the builders need to pad it with extra space in order to be profitable. 

If there's no inspection and there is a problem that gets discovered later, then there could be be ill feeling between you and the F.I.L. and that would get super awkward.
