Like most things in finance, I don't think this is black and white and I am always happy to admit I was wrong. 

The house was in fine shape, not sure they ever fully moved in by the looks of it, needed nothing to be done for a turn but a minor cleaning so we agreed to let them out of the lease, full SD back as long as they signed an agreement there was no mold and they would never pursue any damages or claim any issues etc. 

I am currently a commercial banker for Frost Bank in Houston, Texas and graduated from Texas Christian University in 2021 with honors in Finance.

My husband works in finance and is a big numbers guy.

I made a new friend here on the rooftop terrace of one of my condo buildings in Playa del Carmen.

Though I am a real estate(small) investor I have a background in Finance & Accounting but I am not a CPA.

If you put it on the city's radar you will need to bring it into compliance.I am not 100% sure I understand your overall question though...Are you wanting to put a rooftop deck on your roof and create a hatch in the enclosed porch to get to the roof top deck?
