The same would go for both of your houses while you live in one and then once they are both rentals they will both expense and depreciate the same way although there might be some carry-over tax benefits from when you were in it personally, ask your accountant.

Then we had two half way houses approved by the city (in a nice area) only to find it housed sex offenders etc.Now the city is filing lawsuits against the operators esp now that the crime rate in the n'hood went exponential & the over taxed neighbors revolted.

The reasoning behind occupancy limits (not my reasoning, but according to those making the argument in favor of them) is to reduce noise and traffic, to preserve the character of largely owner-occupied blocks, and that public services like utilities, police and fire and ambulances/hospitals, roads, courts, schools, waste removal, post offices etc. are designed with a certain number of occupants per home in mind, and could be overtaxed if more people than intended are using these systems.

Normally, I discuss employment with the employer (may need to fax the authorization) and ask "is $XXX a reasonable summary of their monthly income" and "is this employee on any form of probation".The self-employed are particularly difficult in this area as we can't tell where the next job will come from - - and while bank accounts show past income (and stable employment), that doesn't project the future.I would take bank account info over tax returns as you can see the consistency of deposits
