My big goal is to quit my job as a professor so I can devote time to getting my kids to where they need to be and so I can work on my hobby farm of breeding endangered heritage breed chickens...I've been at this dream for 4 years and 15 units are not going to be enough it seems...My freedom number is 50 units if I go the residential multiunit route. 

I would never endanger my house for someone else.

It's very strange this advice is given,   because if the issue is noise or other lease violations, like drugs,  additional residents,  garbage,  or other issues that may endanger your tenants, you have to get involved, as it's your business to enforce the lease.
